Birthday Brunch at Tabard Inn

Happy Easter to all of you who are celebrating it today!

If you live in DC area and are still looking for a brunch place, this post might be of some help to you: head over to Tabard Inn!

Last Sunday, my friends Jenn, Radha and AnnaS joined me for an early birthday celebration at Tabard Inn. This was my third time to Tabard Inn, and I was excited for my return meal. You see, Tabard Inn is this quaint restaurant in an old hotel, which is perfect for a variety of occasions: birthday brunches, lazy Sunday afternoon lunch, meeting of families and old friends. You can get all dressed up or just show up in your running clothes. We got dressed up :)

As soon as we sat down, we received a basket with two types of bread and corn muffins (and of course butter). We weren't shy about devouring most of it.

Then Jenn and I ordered regular mimosas and Radha and AnnaS ordered bloody orange mimosas. Unfortunately, my mimosa did not go to my head at all: surprising, as I have very low tolerance.

Then Radha had a great idea to order Freshly Fried Doughnuts with cinnamon sugar and vanilla whipped cream. It was a celebration, so why not? OMG these were so good! Not overly sweet, but fluffy, warm and a perfect "carrier" for the whipped cream.

For the food, I ordered Grilled Bistro Filet with poached eggs, chimichurri and home fries. Jenn got the same thing. The potatoes were amazing: crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The eggs were runny and mixed well with the fresh chimichuri sauce. Too bad I did not have any bread to dip into the runny yolks. My meat was a bit too red for the "medium rare" I ordered. And I honestly was too full to eat it: so I took it home and had for lunch the next day.

Radha ordered Lamb Merguez Sausage Sandwich with arugula, taztziki sauce, oven-dried tomatoes and Route 11 chips.

And Anna had Eggs Benedict with house-smoked salmon.

We were all happy with our choices. I was so full, I did not eat the rest of the day!

What a great start to my 31st!
